VM failed to start with Event ID 12140, 12010, 12030


we running vms on windows 2008. when trying start 1 of vms, get the failed start message event id 12140, 12010 , 12030

in order perform further research, please me collect following information:

 

1. what’s operating system within problematic vm?

2. how many cpu , memory did assign vm?

3. did have anti-virus software installed on hyper-v host machine?

  1. My problem was caused by a SCSI interface that somehow got added to the VM. There was no drive(VHD) attached to the interface so I removed it. Once it was removed my VM booted normally. My running theory is during the backup process it may add the SCSI interface to help the back up process and when I interrupted it to bring back my VM's it didn't get the chance to clean up after itself leaving the useless interface to screw up my startup.
