i have user needs start , stop service running on server. not need controlled services, there start/stop option when launch gui application. on call application , far way have found able stop/start if add him local admin group. don't want him have control on server how set permissions have admin access 1 program? i have tried full control application .exe under security tab, unable start , stop service. approach 1 : create console “mmc.exe” created blank security template created security database store policy information change service permission user want give permission applied new security permission ( referred this  blog ) approach works fine, have created 2 non admin user account in 1 virtual machine , set permission admin account, able start , stop service both non admin user accounts. approach not complete solution problem, involves lot of manual steps. start looking automate process. result of found approach 2 approach 2 : grant permissio...

installed 10gig dell broadcom bcm57711 nic in our dell r805 server. server running windows 2008 r2 sp1 data center in 2 node (csv), cluster shared volume configuration. connect our storage array via iscsi initiator, have scvmm 2008 r2 running on server manage our hyper-v vm's. we started getting msiscsi event id 113 after bringing nic online iscsi. noticed when went iscsi initiator , ran discovery portal , used 10gig nic got tcp transport error. the fix follows; document current nic settings in properties tab each nic. apply hotfix 2684681, , 2685007. apply latest broadcom nic drivers, update nic bios. install dell bacs nic configuration software. make sure no nics appear in storage controller area of device manager, if present remove them. disable offload , rss settings on properties tab each nic. using dell bacs disable iscsi support nics. disable offloading in windows os below netsh commands. netsh      int tcp set global rss=disabled netsh int tcp ...

i have built out 2 new server 2012 vm's: gtvs181shr gtvs182shr i have created cluster them 2 nodes called: gtcs180shr with file server role: gtvs184shr "cluster aware updating" role (cau works perfectly) i unable add file share role. when attempt add share workstation (using domain admin cred's) select "file server" hostname shown in list , not able select volume. same result running active node of cluster. if try add share "server manager" able select volume wizard. continue through wizard , able enter share name , set permissions, "access denied" error on "create smb share" task. on cluster disk , \shares\<share_name> folder created. what logs can @ narrow down error? under event viewer failoverclustering / diagnostic log following: - system - provider [ name ] microsoft-windows-failoverclustering [ gui...

hi i want export updates internet connected wsus server internal wsus server. can copy wsuscontent folder internal connected wsus server or better if go third party tool symantec or acronis .do incremental backups , restore.will issue if both servers in isolated different domains(permission issues). you need copy both - content folder , update metadata. update metadata can exported , imported using wsusutil tool. there no need use third-party tool it. take @ set disconnected network (import , export updates) more info. gleb.
