hi! server hyper-v 2012 (16gb ram, xeon 4 core + hyperthreading) , runs centos 6.4 (web+ftp) in vm. the problem web server snail-slow. top shows server's load average high. hyper-v manager shows cpu usage 20-45 % (loadaverage @ time ~2..4,5). task manager in hyperv server shows 1-2 %. why not see higher cpu utilization? why centos cannot use more power? i have server 2008 sp2 box that in theory, should work fine. after whole lot of troubleshooting, has fallen os problem. we have been managing hp proliant ml350 running microsoft server 2012 r2 hyper v running 2 server 2012 servers, 1 dc , 1 exchange 2013. it has 2 nics (intel) 1 setup hyper v host + management , other vmswitch virtuals. nearly every morning when staff come office server stops responding on both nics. no ping no response.  if either disable network cards , re-enable server come live. we have replaced switch server connects problem still occurs.  there no errors in event log @ , no hardware errors hp insight log. switch records nothing either. the virtual machines show no internet access on network when occurs. we can connect server via ilo during time. really banging our heads against wall on one. any appreciated. disabling vmq 1gbe nics choice, i'm curious why you're using broadcom drivers on intel nics? , how? error in original post text, hope. verify power management disabled both adapters well. eric siron altaro hyper-v blog independent contribut

i inherited server system , told server domain controller. for years added accounts, servers, etc on domain controller. made changes , took other servers out of production. when doing noticed when what thought main server rebooted not load dns or ad. after doing commands found pdc, master, etc roles were on server turned off. transferred roles. after rebooting again it still not working without old server. decided fire old server , had same issues loading dns, ad, etc. we fired old server , then server thought main(and since transferred roles it). @ first both servers unable access dns , ad after few minutes running on both. appears rely on 1 another. we ran dcdiag on both , see no issues. 1 thing odd neither server has same items within netlogon. on old server folder within sysvol looks , actual folder other server looks shortcut. should mention old server windows 2003 , other 2008 r2. my question why 1 rely on each other , how make old server no longer required? ensured t

hi i having problem in allowing non-administrator access hyper-v hosts. i have created hyper-v power user group in ad , assigned role in authorization manager.  have added operations want group able use role in role definitions. however when user attempts connect hyper-v host via hyper-v manager error says: "you do not have required permission complete task.  contact administrator of authorization policy computer <host name>" is there specific operation need add in authorization manager non-admins able connect via hv manager, or there permission need change somewhere else? thanks are hv servers joined domain? if add ad user in "hyper-v administrators" group under "local users , groups"?? james. hi, we’re running evaluation of hyperv 3.0 (we’re vmware house currently) , have 2 hyperv hosts, 1 in each of our data centres. we’ve created single vm on each host , in process of testing vm move process. on each host have 2 virtual switches. 1 of virtual switches configured local vlan @ each datacentre. other virtual switch common “extended” vlan exists on both hosts. with 2 “local” switches in place, can move vm host host without problem. however, common vlan switch in place on both hosts, consistently following error: this appears not networking issue. when both vms configured on “extended” vlan, can ping vms across link – move refuses work. does have ideas try next?  cheers steve hello you should check better hyper v logs others clues.. fact can ping doesn't mean since in error there's wrote.. i have done searching.  have installed 2012 datacenter 64bit.  no problem.  installed ad ds role , elevated domain controller.  installed dhcp , dns roles.  want join client computer new domain in server.  (it's domain).  however, nothing try works.  message: "an active directory domain controller (ad dc) domain "dgr.mine" not contacted." ensure domain name typed correctly. if name correct, click details troubleshooting information" --------- details: the error was:  "this operation returned because th teimout period expired."  (error code 0x000005b4 error_timeout) the dns servers used computer name resolution not responding.  computer configured use dns servers following ip addresses;  192.168.1.200 verify computer connected network, these correct dns server ip addresses, , @ least 1 of dns servers running. ------------ in 2012 server dns address set 192.168.1.200 in client computer dns address set 192.168.1.200 the serv
