hi there, my c:\windows\sysmsi\ssee\mssql.2005\mssql\log folder huge. contains 34,000 files , 22gb in size. can delete files? somehow folder got large crashed server. of files seem like: "sqldump0005.txt" or "sqldump5736.txt" etc. or there command can run safely remove these files? can help? thanks! steve. so event log showing causing sql terminate, in case said i'd next step have @ latest sqldump txt , log files (can't remember memory gives useful info), , see being reported in there. note there lot of information listed in there, since include information relating current state of server @ time of crash, somewhere in there should find reference kind of error caused problem. either give clear indication of happening can fix it, or @ least error code can search find more information. re-installing might resolve it, i'd suggest in short term it's better resolve underlying problem if can can ensure doesn't happen again.

hi, i have gpo deployed in our ad applying updates using wsus (on version 3.0 sp2).  in gpo, under computer configuration --> administrative templates --> windows update have following settings: configure automatic updates specify intranet microsoft update service location no auto-restart logged on users scheduled automatic updates installations automatic updates detection frequency allow automatic updates immediate installation delay restart scheduled installations re-prompt restart scheduled installations allow non-administrators receive update notifications allow signed content intranet microsoft update service location   when approve updates in wsus , set custom deadline install, updates downloaded machines correctly.  problem i'm running "postpone" button grayed out once custom deadline i've set reached updates installed.  proper behavior?  need set deadline on updates insure installed, still end users have ability postpone restart

i trying recover individual files backed (successfully) windows server 2016 essentials machine.   i started dashboard on local machine, (client), attempted recover files stored on server.   i logged in local user, selected device, chose recover files , folders, chose local drive (c:). the file started display after half second (shows 4%) display disappeared , replaced error message: "the restore process did not succeed the restore process did not succeed because computer cannot connect server.   make sure computer connected network, , try again." this error appears on 2 machines, both windows 10 pro, build 1703.   these 2 machines have been running several years , started windows 7.   a third machine fresh install of windows 10 pro , upgraded current build 1703 has no problem whatsoever, works expected , recovers test files without issue.   all 3 machines have host file entry server; 192.168.0.125   server all 3 machines have adaptors settings show dn

i'm having issue group policies window server 2008 domain - we're linking gpo contains user , computer configurations ou contains computers (terminal servers). we're trying apply security filtering on gpo specific group of users only, when test filtering usergroup gpo not applied. if use security group "authenticated users" user , computer policy gets applied users logged terminal server. same exact test works in our windows 2003 domain setup. we created basic test policy break issue down. enabled loopback processing , disabled access taskbar under user config. verified user navigate specific test policy on sysvol folder , under delegations tab had proper permissions. way can work place "authenticated users" group or computer/server account under security filtering scope. seems applying if computer account (which beneath ou) defined in security filtering. - additional testing created second ou , linked simple gpo change background, d

hi have been asked crerat windows xp image deployment unatended install via sccm server, have created image useing xp sp3 cd in mdt, added task sequence drivers , every thing need in image software deployed via sccm new systems picked in ad sccm auto deploy packages them, xp image when create cd test use cd boot system , have awnser around 9 questions befor starts windows instal rest autamated, have checked unnatended file there , sysprep file have tried saving unatended file winnt.sif , putting in systems32 folder  still these questions before windows installs need have 100% no questions how can this? simplified: made , image xp sp3 in mdt, created cd boot system starts asked 9 questions have allready answerd in unetended file , sysprep file istalls windows no questions, how stop asking these questions, have tried save unetended winnt.sif , saving in systems 32 folder did'nt have tried edit scripts created in mdt distibution folder did'nt help, can 1 me need autamated install

hi all- i created users share , assigned permissions using following:  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj649078.aspx.  change made use group instead of named "folderredirect" group.  did not have add , remove users folderredirect group / less administration. the folders getting created automatically , content (docs) copying should, finding user has permission root of folder , not subfolders copied up.  sure i'm missing painfully simple.  used ntfs permissions specified in article - used instead of folderredirect group. thanks hi,   had further @ initial post, if have followed technet article strictly, everyone group should have " list folder/read data " , " create folders/append data ", correct?   list folder allows viewing file names , subfolder names within root folder. read data allows viewing data in files in current folder. create folder/append data right allows everyone group members have proper permissions

hi, have server under windows 2003 server std oem licensing. have move on machine ( virtual machine ) without reinstall scratch ( 2 days works ). have import machine vmware want register windows licence it's not possible because of oem. installation id incorrect. there way convert oem licence volume licence have under valide contract ? think it's possible because can't imagine cannot restore production machine if it's not same. let me know dont new installation! just  boot cd , repair windows ! repair doesn't mean erase existing data. this way pass oem vl. you'll able enter vl key. take @ " how repair install of windows " this kb after this, it's possible troubles because server won't up-to-date. launch windows update. dear users, wondering how other people managing event viewer? don't have large budget buy third-party software organize it. when in our event viewer see lots of events , want make manageable. within our organization far manageable. every minute there 250+ events generated in security logs . our event log can't hold longer week, since logs full, exception security log since there can't more 1,5 day of logging. have set maximum log size to 20480 kb. hoping give me advice/information can read solve problem oversize generation of events in our logs. kind regards, martijn you should interested in warnings/error/critcal messages. if have many servers, difficult monitor these logs. suggest forward these events central server (central event viewer). windows 2008 onwards support event forwarding , collection. refer white paper - http://www.avecto.com/documents/solution-guides/eventcentralization.pdf i hope helps. thanks. viral dalia system/ne

hello i have problem group policy. i wanted add intranet site ie properties in security tab , did research , found 1 link saying go group policy management -> user configuration -> windows settings -> internet explorer maintenance -> security -> right click on security zones , and click on properties , make changes.  (i able find option running gpmc in dc. if add gpmc in mmc in computer, not able see option) so clicked on"import current security zones , privacy settings in security zones , privacy , added site. on pc, did gpupdate /force , seemed working since site added , in computer ie settings, said "some settings managed system administrator" , updated gp on other pc did not work and i realized link windows 2003 server , have windows 2008. reverted did , on pc, updated gp settings in ie not changed was. my questions are - how change settings on computer? - why gp working on computer other computers? - how add intranet site thru
