i try launch scheduled task on remote 2008 r2 server 2003 server domain account full permissions. keep getting message saying 'the specified task name "notepad" not exist in system'. hi all, i've got 1 upstream wsus server , 4 downstreams wsus servers in replica mode. i use wsus package publisher locally publish updates on upstream server. when delete update upstream server, update file still present in "wsuscontent" folder , "updateservicespackages" folder. use cleanup wizard delete file "wsuscontent" folder , integrated function of wsus package publisher remove "updateservicespackages" folder. work fine. synchronize replica server upstream server, , file remove "wsuscontent" folder on replica server. but update still present in database of replica server ! running cleanup wizard on replica server didn't help. how can delete unpublished udpates database on replica server ? ok, i've got it. i thought can not else view updates on replica server. in fact, can delete update. modified wsus package publisher can delete updates when connected replica server. david courtel it technician

hello all! i've inherited 2 node physical 2012 r2 file server cluster contains few smb shares on single clustered disk.  i'd enable shadow copies shared disk want store shadow copy data on own shared disk per shadow copy best practices (at least on non-clustered file servers). i created second cluster disk, assigned it to same resources smb clustered disk.  now historically i've enabled shadow copies through computer management want ensure shadow copies cluster aware in failover cluster manager open storage | disks , right click smb cluster disk , click shadow copies tab. tab can enable shadow copies, sounds i'm looking for, unfortunately not give me option choose disk/volume store shadow copy data, can't right. my next step connect computer management cluster virtual server name (nocfs4) , through system tools | shared folders | tasks | configure shadow copies it shows me the correct number of shares on smb cluster disk plus can see the settings but

we copying data server in 1 domain new hardware in different domain. there 2 way trust between domains - destination domain (domain2) forest root of source (domain1). when copy data using robocopy when looged on administrator of the forest root domain (domain2) using command below copies ok few access denied errors. robocopy.exe e:\data i:\ /s /b /r:0 /mir /nfl /ndl /tee /copyall /w:1 /log+:c:\san\08718dc-data.txt  to try around of permissions errors try logging in domain admin on source domain (domain1) - i.e. domain source server currently. when run above start getting following errors: error 1314 (0x00000522) copying ntfs security destination directory e:\data\folder\filename   a required privilege not held client. the account log in has full permissions on source , target. my questions are, error suggest wrong ? also, why destination showing e:\data...  when source ? thanks   /b requires backup , restore privileges.  make sure add user to  backup operators group o

hello guys, i trying setup new 2008 windows cluster. have installed failover clustering on both servers. when try validate nodes (validate cluster configuration) local node validating. during server selection validation enter name of second node , fails below error "failed validate node 'node2.mydomain.com'. unable connect 'node2.mydomain.com' via wmi. this may due networking issues or firewall configuration on 'node2.mydomain.com'. value not fall within expected range" i have checked on both nodes, windows firewall has been setup allow failover clustering , wmi well. i tried turning off windows firewall on both nodes. still no joy. i ran wmidiag on both nodes. cannot find interesting there. checked permissions on wmi root. looks ok. administrators have full rights. could please point out missing.   cheers! this fixed. firewall issue blocking rpc ports.

hello i have 30 users on win2003 server which moved hq. newly established branch, roaming profile. gave them access via terminal server. because of roaming profiles computers now connecting slowly. best solution ? shall move roaming profile on terminal server? if know of step step guide plz share best regards gamli typically, it's not idea physically separate ts servers , user data (including profiles) if don't have enough network bandwidth. when looking solution, there several options. 1 option folder redirection, improves logon performance but may influence application runtime behavior in negative way. option caching user profile data on ts server, works if it's 1 server. a third option strict profile management, using products such immidio flex profiles, appsense environment manager, rto virtual profiles or citrix user profile management. benny Windows Server

i have kms server setup activate windows servers in network. troubleshooting permission related issue activation. testing purpose, need deactive windows server sometime. is there command can that? the server has been activated already. tried use slmgr -upk, -rilc swithes deactivate can testing. seems once use -ipk swith install kms client key, activation information still there. my need simple, once server got activated via kms, how make roll status before activation? i using vmware snapshot solution think there should windows command can samething. hi,   if want activate system, use slmgr /ipk , slmgr /ato install key , activate system. can use slmgr /dlv check results after doing this. if want deactivate system, use slmgr /upk uninstall key. can use slmgr /dlv check results after doing this.   you cannot deactivate system without uninstalling key.   tim quan   Windows Server
