i trying find way turn off ntfs "compression" attribute on folder , of it's subfolders, without changing setting on files might exist in folders. we have emc vnx nas files , folders transferred on windows file server.   the windows server had file , folder compression enabled on data.   when files , folders transferred over, kept "compression" attribute on items.   the vnx has own processing compression , deduplication, , having compression active on new files causing performance issues.   what need turn off compression attribute on folders, new files not compressed, don't want go , uncompress existing files. the problem tools in windows (both command line "compact" , gui) either apply current folder, or subfolders , files.   there's no way i've found have apply current folder , subfolders without uncompressing files in subfolders, too. i can list of directory names (dir /ad /s/b), , manipulate , feed script, we're talkin
