hi guys, started working on new computer server 2008 r2 , first thing did install ad , promote using dcpromo, when went group policy management started getting error "the network path not found" went verify if network share required access sysvol available , there not accessible, netlogon, sysvol , other share create not open, says "windows cannot access \\computername\sharename", clicking on diagnose shows me "the remote device or resource won't accept connection", i've done lot of research , made lot of changes still doesn't work, i've done on server 2003 few times in past without hitch. here's i've tried already: 1. local policy -> security options -> network security: lan manager authentication level send kn & ntlm 2. local policy -> security options -> network security: not store lan manager hash value on next password change disabled 3. gave full rights on shared folders, tried everyone, o

we have 150 computers running windows 10 enterprise version 1511, want upgrade version 1607 our wsus server running on windows server 2012 r2. need complete these upgrades during break between our academic terms, because upgrade disruptive. this "feature update" visible in our wsus server , approved 70 of computers, has failed on 98% of them. report have users "feature update" appears available, starts, , downloading progress bar sits @ 0% (or in 1 case, 1%) forever. rebooting client not help. stopping , restarting windows update service not help. no one, technical users, has seen pop dialog boxes or other windows might waiting user action. except version 1607 upgrade, of these computers current other windows updates. in wsus status report these failed computers, event reported "[unable find resource] reportingevent.client.167; parameters: feature update windows 10 enterprise, version 1607, en-us". cannot find information online means or how fi

i have 2003 r2 file server.  there directory on file share need give group full rights excluding deletion.  have gone security tabs group, went advanced permissions, checked allow full control, checked deny box next delete, delete subfolders , files, , take ownership.  after applying these permissions group group no longer able rename files.  users see access denied message. i have tried keep delete, delete subfolders , files, , take ownership unchecked on allow column , not check deny column still have same result. what doing wrong?  can't seem work way want to. hi, internally rename operation done as - delete old file - create file new name same content/permissions etc you can confirm through event logs generated rename activity. think since have denied delete permission, user unable rename it. regards, jack www.jijitechnologies.com Windows Server

trying figure out if in configured incorrectly. ive been using few days now. seems after adding agpm admin group, , create gpo, check out, edit it, check in, , deploy it-- works great. when go policy under group policy objects , try change gpo status greyed out. seems occur on policies controlled. so didnt see in documentation. supposed have delete archive (for policies controlled), change gpo status, re-control it? also, guessing way have right clicked on policy , chose copy pasted, no longer relevant once controlled. thanks i believe go now. had add svc account production delegation tab edit then domain level add agpm service account allow permission "link gpos" container , child containers. when deleting policy within change control, removes links policy had on each ou. i'm @ wits end on this. we on server 2003 domain, , majority of our clients windows 7.  not give local admin rights our end users, gets them. this has caused issues adding network printers.  have of our printers between our 2 sites on servers particular site.  because installing printer drivers requires local admin rights have first log in myself install printer, log in user add printer profile.  i created gpo disables point , print restriction under both computer , user policies, though know windows 7 ignores user policy.  i've enabled setting allowing non-admins install print drivers.  included guids printers. my end users getting policy have verified gpresult, yet when go install network printer pretend it's going it, , halfway 3/4 of way errors out "cannot connect printer, access denied". i've tried granting , authenticated users permission driver folder on print server, , have made sure have access printers.  nothing has worked. we did i
