we have new wsus server windows server 2008 r2 and intended replace current wsus server  w2k3.  the wsus is  configured upstream server , now gets update microsoft.  when synchronizing, pulled out updates since 2006.  since these updates approved, downloaded , installed client long time ago old wsus server, should server cleanup delete these old updates not approved 30 days or should approve them all?  if approved them all, go client pcs new updates or client tell wsus have these , not applicable anymore. thanks. did install new wsus server scratch, or replicate original (w2k3) server? generally speaking,  should decline any updates superseded , reported 100% installed/notapplicable. if new server built scratch , updates have never been approved, the server cleanup wizard automatically after updates have been notapproved @ least 30 days (which depend on original synchronization date of new server). in instance, given volume of updates affected, it's easier run scw

hi all, this first time posting here although have been browsing while. anyways,i'm technician windows 2008 network running windows xp workstations. i've been trying add list of exe's "run specified windows applications" policy. the problem have been having couple of crucial app's need run on workstations. app's are: daemon tools  (daemon.exe) foxit reader (foxit reader.exe) sound volume (sndvol32.exe) the problem whenever of these 3 exe's added 'run specified windows applications' policy, workstation not apply policy properly. folder redirection doesn't work, taskbar shown rather hidden etc. i believe issue 3 required on boot in way (although i'm not 100% certain) daemon run's service launches on boot. have pdf launches on login displays terms , conditions of using computers. sound volume presume used on login play windows logon wav i've been wracking brain , can't think of solution , have scoure

i building hyper-v server r2 failover cluster , trying map out. have 2 questions far.   1. have 2 nodes go 3 in future. node majority + disk right way go? assuming can change when add 3rd node down road.   2. have 2 nics in each server. can have normal network connection , heartbeat cluster plus live migration 2 nics or need three?     thanks help. hello, you can definately change cluster quorum settings after fact add , remove nodes.  in respect capacity, make sure planning hyper-v environment can survive loss of 1 servers , still keep vms online.  i consider having more nics in host servers.  want have nic provide dedicated nics management, live migration, , virtual machines.  also, virtual machines typically consume more 1 nic (for capacity reasons).  finally, you'd want have dedicated nics iscsi if going down route.  i hope helps out. nathan lasnoski Windows Server

we setting sql alwayson availability group windows failover cluster needed pre req. nodes in prod , dr dc. 2 nodes in prod , 2 in dr, 4 node cluster. because ip subnet different in prod , dr, end getting multi subnet cluster. the question more on heartbeat network. required have hb ip 4 nodes in same subnet ? or can have heartbeat ip for 2 nodes (prod) in 1 subnet , other other 2 nodes in other. thanks.
