hi we have in excess of 400 pst files on network shares on spec'd 100 user 2008 r2 server. despite known issues pst files on network shares server has run without issue 7 or 8 months until recently, when classical symptoms of pst issue started manifest - server hangs , pst file corruptions. in process of implementing exchange 2010 server and have removed of "live" pst files user's desktops time being , users encouraged backup psts time time. remaining psts archives , therefore read , not accessed anywhere near frequently. however, issues still occur and all "live" pst files have been moved off server. should remove remaining pst files , if why, read only? event logs errors non-existent, logging options should enable track down issue further? are there registry tweeks server perform better? any appreciated. thanks dave ok that solution not practical @ moment - we've transferred all the user's current (writeable) pst files desktop t

just installed trial of essentials on server check out don't buy wrong os. need have 3 people connected server using remote desktop , work directly desktop ie; using visual studio, ms sql etc.. is possible on essentials while using workgroup , not active directory services? i created 2 additional users , assigned them admin rights under local users in computer management area. able log in via remote desktop @ same time me (i'm using built in admin account). do need enable active directory allow above scenario work? with proper cals, possible, not easy. of remote desktop management tools want active directory behind them in 2012, managing workgroup extremely difficult. instead, i'd recommend taking advantage of 2012 standard's virtualization rights (1+2) run 2 vms. 1 domain controller , 1 rds server. one physical server, 1 server license, and easier manage, of other added benefits ad brings. another option multipoint server. specialized rds server

i'm curious know how other organisations around problem. my user accounts sit in ou structured department (development, finance, it, sales, services) each department has matching security group (gen_development, gen_finance, gen_it, etc.) these security groups have required permissions starting 'base'. users in each department members of gen_ group obtain base set of permissions required department. when user moves departments, need loose base permissions department , gain base permissions new department. achieved changing gen_ group user member of. my problem needs happen automatically our staff forget make change group membership. added condition, users need keep specific group memberships obtained outside of base permissions. i understand process best achieved using concept known "shadow groups" whereby script automatically adds/removes users set group based on ou membership. does else have alternative method share? thanks christoph this probl

dear friends ,   working in banking sector , our live cbs application (which based on .net application)  runs windows platform . have 2 application server , both running on windows 2008 r2 server  , 1 on hyper-v vmware platform , other on physical server . application smoothly running physical server , when run application vmware o/s face below problems :   - though application recommended explorer 8 , in vmware environment explorer 8 not functioning . application front end shows button in corner of page , related line goes corner . -  some table data length output not shown vmware environemnt . account number 14 digit , when take report vmware machine shows 10 digit whereas report physical machines shows correct value (14) .  is there idea / recommendation resolve issue . here mention prepare more 2 application server in vsphere , application behavior same in nature . waiting kind rely .. ...    hi foiz, i don't see problem virtualization, issue windows

the server not boot gets loading screen reboots.  need find out call @ microsoft have spent day talking dell , troubleshooting them.  dell suggusted format have last resort suggusted call microsoft. hi dcunningnab,   the computer reboot automatically when fatal error occurs default. can turn off setting identify root cause of problem. change recovery settings disable automatic rebooting:   1.        right-click my computer , , click properties . 2.        click advanced tab. 3.        under startup , recovery , click settings open startup , recovery dialog box. 4.        clear automatically restart check box, , click ok necessary number of times. 5.        restart computer settings take effect.   please note need enter safe mode change setting since computer won’t enter windows normally.   now when shut down computer, should see error occurs. please check whether there’s error events in event log. please post errors on thread further t
