Server 2012R2 loses its ISATAP address at random
i first posted in uag forum, have had no responses in month...
i have directaccess environment, , have configured group policy enable isatap address , add isatap router 2 servers. both 2012r2, patched, , vms on vsphere 6.x vmxnet3 adapters.
the 1 that's used heavily our deployment server (we use pdq deploy). however, machine somehow loses isatap configuration, seemingly @ random. doesn't appear happen during reboot - @ least i've not been able trigger rebooting it.
the problem has come head because trying update software computer in field, , manage out server running pdq deploy lost isatap address in middle of operation during night, leaving user without tools job.
the way i've been able work around problem open device manager, select "show hidden devices" view menu, dive "network adapters", delete "microsoft isatap adapter", reboot. recreates isatap adapter, , can manage out again.
the problem seems associated these two events - both 4202/iphlpsvc (since first of year, 28 of 1st event, 1 of 2nd - isatap address isn't lost @ every event log entry, it's happened perhaps 8 or times since first of year):

hi kurtbuff,
1. >i have directaccess environment, , have configured group policy enable isatap address , add isatap router 2 servers.
please use command "netsh interface isatap show state" , "netsh int isatap show router" check if gpo settings applied correctly.
2. since issue occurs randomly, it's hard find out the root cause, please try if reinstall adapters work, try resetting tcp/ip stack.
best regards,
anne
