Server 2012 R2 DHCP - Time taken for failover partner to enter 'communication interrupted' state.

hi,

i have 2 2012 r2 servers running dhcp service, failover configured in hot standby mode.

when take active server offline removing network connection, takes 1 minute 5 seconds partner server transition 'communication interrupted' state.

does know process the standby server determining whether active server available?

secondly, there configuration changes can made 'communication interrupted' state entered more quickly?

hi,

based on description, standby dhcp server enter communication interrupted state, takes time.

the active dhcp server sent binding update(bndupd) message standby dhcp server after providing ip address lease client. , standby dhcp server respond , acknowledge received binding update(bndack).

if standby dhcp server receives error when attempting communicate active dhcp server or timer expires because no messages have been received active dhcp server. drop connection, enter communication interrupted state, , switch active status.

as time issue, take 1min 5s @ every times of changing state?

for more details, please refer article below,
