Event 4098 GPO Printers, Item-Level Targeting 0x80070bc4
dear all,
i have windows sbs 2008 server windows server 2008 r2 terminal server. deploy printers using gpo, , item-level targeting manage default printers.
when user has no printers installed in session, deployment of printers going fine... printers installed, , correct printer taken default one.
when user logs off, , logs on again, following messages appear in event viewer :
the user '<user>' preference item in the 'printer policy' group policy object did not apply because failed error code '0x80070709 printer name invalid.' error suppressed.
--> item-level targetting no longer applied.
i tried :
- adding terminal server computer account printers security
- played around group policy loopback mode
- gave user administrator rights
-...
i don't know next , customer complaining this.
can please me?
kind regards,

this how solved problem :
- noticed problem occurs when logon second time. when logon first time, no printers installed, printers gpo correctly installed correct default printer (according item level tagging). second time logon, , changing on printers (eg. change default printer), change not applied , error message logged in event viewer.
- searched way uninstall printers when user logs off, next time user log on, printers re-applied using gpo.
- used tool con2prt.exe http://www.paulmcgrath.net/download.php?view.2 can find in nt zak, uninstall network printers.
- made loggoff script whith folowing command \\server\sharename\con2prty.exe /f
- now, on loggoff profile of user clean printers , next time user logs on, alle printer gpo stuff reapplied whith item level tagging taken care off.
