How to rename my Domain Controller?

i have domain controller acting hyper-v host, dns , dhcp server

i'd rename server without causing issues........ how easy be? thanks

hi ronniewhittaker,

i highly recommend not use dc hyperv host. i'm not sure how have configured, hyperv recommended have multiple nics, , multiple nics not play domain controllers. also, once machine dc, there substantial performance hit due dc's default configuration disables write-behind cache on drive controller. optimal dc database transactional logging , recovery, however, vastly slows machine down, , default change can't reversed.

the following exchange on dc, ramifications apply dc being vm host:

i suggest install dc vm guest on current machine, transfer fsmo roles, make gc, make appropriate changes dns, dhcp, wins, etc, , demote vm host. have time service considerations, too.
