GPO Printer Deployment not working reliable

hello

we have ts environment , deploy printers through group policy. every , then, during user logon, following error message in event log:

the user 'printername' preference item in 'grouppolicyname' group policy object did not apply because failed error code '0x8007007a data area passed system call small.' error suppressed.

after error happens, need restart spooler service printing work again.

domain: 2003

ts servers: 2008

we use 2 different printer drivers: hp universal printing pcl5 (version: 5.0.3.37) , canon ufr ii (version: 2.70)

i have read http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en/winservergp/thread/39f72c7c-c91e-4cf0-b976-332b9683983c , problem sounds similar. except have “the data area passed system call small” instead of “the print processor unknown“ in event log.

does have ideas be?

many thanks,

joe

hi joe,

thanks post.

from description, understand followng event error receved when user logs on terminal server.

the user 'printername' preference item in 'grouppolicyname' group policy object did not apply because failed error code '0x8007007a data area passed system call small.'

i wondering if issue occurs on xp-based client machine.

if so, try following method.

add the following registry value manually on problematic client machine.

hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\group policy objects\localmachine\software\policies\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon

value name: syncforegroundpolicy
data type: reg_dword
value data: 1

you can configure following policy in gpo test.

[computer configuration\administrative templates\system\logon\ wait network @ computer startup , logon]

please enforce gpo after applying it.

if problem continues, please collect mpsreport on server.

1. download proper mps report tool website below.

microsoft product support reports
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=cebf3c7c-7ca5-408f-88b7-f9c79b7306c0&displaylang=en

2. double-click run it, if requirement not met, please follow wizard download , install them. after that, click next, when "select diagnostics want run" page appears, select "general", “server components”, click next.

3. after collecting log files, choose "save results", choose folder save <computername>mpsreports.cab file.

please send files me directly @ tfwst@microsoft.com

thanks,

miles
