DHCP Relay log file
we have single dhcp server providing dhcp services round 23 sites.
recently migrated our dhcp services windows server 2003 server windows server 2008r2. i’ve enabled, routing , remote access services (rras) - ip routing - dhcp relay agent on old 2003 server relay dhcp requests on new 2008r2 server. can see on old server dhcp relay agent requests received increasing , new dhcp server responding renewing dhcp leases. all good.
our isp has updated our company site routers ip helper configuration forward dhcp request directly new 2008r2 dhcp server. eventually old sever decommissioned. believe, should start see less requests going old 2003 server, has dhcp relay agent enabled. suspect still have remote sites routers ip helper still pointing older dhcp server instead of new.
(i know backwards way around of migrating dhcp services. i.e. may have been easier give new server same ip address old dhcp server after turning off old server, instead of changing sites routers ip configurations.)
what need is, how can determine computers still requesting dhcp renewals form old server? there log file dhcp relay agent, can inspect?
thanks, andrew
