LDIFDE

hi folks,

as can guess subject, i'm moving things around in active directory...  i have lots of questions, but i have a few basic questions thread. general problem move users domain controller on windows server 2003 newer dc on windows server 2008r2.

1) can use ldifde export each user old system import new system , preserve such subtleties sid or various encryption keys stored?  will user able continue access exchange server unfettered, on assumption exchange server machine current old dc , demoted after migration?

now, i have a confession. have tried 0 success...  if extract users this:

ldifde -d "cn=users,dc=tclc,dc=org" -f users.txt

i lots of users.  so trimmed 1 -- me.  i expect able simply import that new system this:

ldifde -i -f users.txt

... , if is unreasonable, please tell me.  my windows server 2008r2 complains follows:

c:\>ldifde -i -f users.new.txt
connecting "justice.tclc.org"
logging in current user using sspi  (current user in the administrators group)
importing directory file "users.txt"
loading entries.
add error on entry starting on line 1: no such attribute
the server side error is: 0x57 parameter incorrect.
the extended server error is:
00000057: ldaperr: dsid-0c090c3e, comment: error in attribute conversion operation, data 0, v1db1
0 entries modified successfully.
error has occurred in program

the first 2 lines this:

dn: cn=users,dc=tclc,dc=org
changetype: add

does have ideas if can plan , more point how want?

thanks help,

chris.

hi awinish,

i agree renaming last resort, , in thread realized fire virtual windows server 2008r2, make him domain controller domain not domain , can migrate users old temp , temp new.   migration problem solved!!!

"legacy settings..."  i have no idea.  possibly related exchange being on dc?  what know when followed standard migration path of join/promotion had lots of critical errors in logs , appeared after promotion.  when deployed domain de novo, had 0 problems, , domain tiny, "manual" migration has shown better bet project.

however, exchange server problem has been bothering me , guys have helped me enormously migration problem -- thank indulgence -- pose exchange server problem in different thread.

thanks help,

chris.
