Backup failure Server 2003 to UNC network share

server 2003 standard sp2

deleted , recreated backup schedule jobs, still same problem

update windows server 2003 (kb940349) installed still same problem

created scheduled tasks through backup utility schedule jobs tab.

used server unc \\servername\e$\backups\machines\filename.bkf (sorry not giving actuall server name)

sunday full backup of local c:\files unc \\servername\e$\backups\machines\localservername 1 1.bkf  with replace enabled on bi weekly schedule.

monday through saturday incrementals backups of local c:\files unc \\servername\e$\backups\machines\locaserver 1 2.bkf (1 2 monday, 1 3 tuesday, etc) replace enabled on bi weekly schedule.

these 2 servers not part of domain , in same workgroup.

the same user account password resides on both servers locally administrative rights.

both servers can access each other , files account remotely fine.

i can logged local machine, visit scheduled tasks , see of various backup jobs created, mimic backup utility list of schedule jobs on calendar.

run scheduled job , completes fine under logged in user.

log off computer night , schedule job executes according logs , last result 0x0.

the remote server shows 2kb file know instantly incorrect!

it conistently same 2 failing. can log in , run same scheduled task user logged in , fine. please note not have reboot local server, log in.

i used same procedures under windows xp sp3 , consistently works, windows server 2003 not want work me.

what have missed?

added user backup operators, administrators should overriding , permisions. did not last night on scheduled task run.

still failing , wondering have missed?

hi,

when setup schedule backup, please have on settings tab in schedule job step, make sure settings correct, such check box "wake computer run task".

meanwhile, should ask user name , password. whether using account mentioned (which exists on both server same name , password)?

as test, have try on using administrator account (change same password first).
