Hyper-V 2012: Disk and VSS Questions

hey everyone,

still pretty green hyper-v 2012, , have few questions i'm hoping can me with;

1) recommended disk space requirement hyper-v 2012 itself? i'm looking sata dom expensive , small on capacity side of things. 4gb enough, or should 8gb? cost difference between 4gb , 8gb significant, appreciate microsoft links showing disk space recommendations hyper-v 2012.

2) plan on having vm system virtual disks located on ssd. backup i'm planning on taking volume snapshot of partition vm's located on , storing on regular spinning media sata hdd. wondering, use of regular sata hdd slow performance of vm's in anyway.

3) seem remember paper vmware showing products performance difference between fixed , dynamically assigned disk space narrow these days. there significant performance benefit using fixed disk on dynamic in hyper-v 2012?

hiya,

1) you, unable find solid facts :(

2) theoretical, i'd vote yes. in practice i'd vote no.

3) depends on workload server performs. in cases performance difference minimal. reason recommending fixed disks production more concern regarding fragmentation , running out of disk space on storage supporting production environments.
