What do you think about using Windows Server 2003 R2 as a failover for Windows Server 2012?

this may sound kind of strange.  have 1 server running server 2003 r2 x64.  has been great machine past 6 years our small business.  ordering new server server 2012 standard x64 (dell poweredge r620.)  going set virtual environment , our new server.  however, wondering thought continuing use our old server redundancy.  i thinking of using old 2k3 box for redundant dhcp, dns, , domain controller.  have of these roles installed on new server of course.

we using tape backup system , figured though of our business critical data stored on new server, our domain @ least stay functional while transfered required data on old server while fix new 1 in case of failure.  ideally, have 2 brand new servers running 2012 for redundancy, we're trying keep our expenses down @ moment.  trying reduce down time.  thoughts?

hi there -

it possible this, if take route might locking out of being able use of new features introduced in ws08, ws08r2, , ws12 technologies mention. ad in particular, won't able use higher forest or domain functional levels in later products if you're still using ws03 dc. think you'll need investigate new features introduced since ws03 make sure don't mind losing ability deploy @ least of those.

to started evaluation:
