i did

research on own taking stuff terminal services ressource kit book (2008 , 2008 r2) , net... , here came with... useful others

windows 2003 r2 sp2 (rdp level 5.2):

display max 1280x1024 (4:3) 24 bits color depth. less color depth 16 bits reach 1600x1200 (4:3) or  1920x1080 (16:9). i've been able in tests go little further 1600x1200 limit indicated in books , net , tested a 16:9 ratio. multi monitor supported in spanned mode.

windows 2008 sp2 (rdp level 6.1) :

display max 4096x2043 32 bits color depth. multi monitor supported in spanned mode.

windows 2008 r2 sp1 (rdp level 7.1):

display max 4096x2043 32 bits color depth. multi monitor supported in true mode meaning 16 monitors 4096x2043 , 32 bits color depth each.

spanned mode means size of remote desktop windows spanned across montor display size max of 4096x2043.

i didn't find info related windows server 8.
