Best Practices for Keeping Files on Laptops and Server

environment small school, less 100 computers/users.

server 2008 r2. user's documents directs server (folder redirection in group policy), getting inconsistencies among our variety of clients (xp, vista, 7, desktops/laptops).

we contemplating change faculty (the users use laptops). in change, remove folder redirection, allow users store files locally, synch files server (for backup purposes). students, use desktops (and may use several different desktops during week) keep their my docs redirected to the server.

advisable? caveats may not have considered?

many can provide constructive feedback!

hi,

offline files should enabled automatically when applying folder redirection, users should have local copy when network is not available.

of course if backup purpose save files on local , setup sync server. setup script run robocopy command copy folders network folder. logon/logoff script in order automatically.
