windows 2008 rds profile problems
hi,
i having trouble users complaining new profile when logon windows 2008 sp2 32bit (non r2) server after message have change password. have been investigating bit , have found numerous post problem happening if u logon through windows xp sp3 or vista machine.
xp
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941797/en-us
vista
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=947242
but both of these seem in combination of workstation being part of domain , users changing password via system. our case workstations (mostly xp embedded thin clients) aren't part of domain , users password change in windows 2008 session.
after snooping around , checking profile list suggested vista saw difference between users having problem , users not having problem. users problem local profile instead of roaming profile. noticed following key missing:
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\profilelist\<usersid>
a correct working account has following 2 string values:
profileimagepath (reg_expand_sz) e:\users\<username>
centralprofile (reg_sz) \\fileserver\tsprofile$\<username>.domain.v2
a user has problems missing centralprofile value. these seem exact symptoms described in kb958058. when go advanced system settings => user profiles, can see users missing centralprofile value have local profile instead of raoming. roaming profiles these users exsist on profile share , permissions have been checked.
has had problem , know why users reason local profile instead of getting there roaming profile after password change?
btw server alrunning xenapp connect through ica don't think it's relevent problem.
edit: see posted in wrong board .. please move correct one?
