NIC info lost in reinstallation... will export fix this?
will exporting importing vms retain nic configuration when imported and brought in new os?
hi,
based on experience, after import on new server or after reinstallation, keep nic configuration when set static mac address vm.
by way, don’t have export vms vhd files, can export configuration files. in windows server 2008 r2, there no gui export vm configurations, can copy code in following link, save .vbs file(such export.vbs) , run following command on elevated command prompt line:
----------------------------
cscript export.vbs vmname exportdirectoryname
----------------------------
for example: d:\>cscript export.vbs test_vm d:\backup (test_vm name of vm)
in addition, can import vm hyper-v manager. however, have select option “copy virtual machine(create new unique id)”, if not receive following error:
note: when copy code link, may copy doc file first , copy content doc file txt file, noticed if copy content directly web txt file, may encounter typeset problem.
