Windows Server 2012 R2 Hosts Ignoring Windows Update GPO Settings

architectural overview

i have development environment comprised of 5 (5) physical machines. 3 (3) of these machines (dacloud-vh01, dacloud-vh02, dacloud-vh03) vmm (2012r2) host servers set failover cluster. 1 (1) of these machines (dacloud-ss01) configured nas (iscsi) server used required shared file system cluster. last machine (dacloud-cs01)--included here completeness--is utility server handles variety of services including being 1 (1) of 4 (4) domain controllers environment. first 4 (4) systems in ad ou called "dacloud cluster hosts".

methodology background

since feel not best of ideas filesystem upon majority of virtual machines shared volumes used few sql instances exist disappear result of dacloud-ss01 being rebooted following automated update, have created gpo policy dacloud cluster hosts ou (called "default dacloud cluster hosts") modifies windows update settings rest of domain. non-default settings ou specify server should check updates not download or install them, install these updates myself, manually.

what's happening

as demonstrated below screenshot taken gp results report within group policy management, non-default wu settings being applied dacloud cluster hosts policy. moreover, in second screenshot taken registry editor on dacloud-ss01, can see wu settings being pushed registry expected.

that said, every sunday morning @ 3am, dacloud-ss01 checks updates and, if found (let's face it, they're found), installs updates and, if required (let's face it, reboot required), reboots server. this, of course, causes pretty entire world come crashing down in environment filesystem pretty relies upon vanishes 3 minutes server reboots.

i'm entirely stumped problem, grateful if point me in right direction before lose (another) (critical) virtual machine or corrupt (another) (critical) database. thank you.

i don't quite understand scenario here, mean "non-default settings ou "?

according screenshot, seems "default dacloud cluster hosts" applies on ou. , wu settings defined in default domain policy, what's questions here?

"i have created gpo policy dacloud cluster hosts ou (called "default dacloud cluster hosts") modifies windows update settings rest of domain."

--- since gpo linked specific ou, how come can modify settings rest of domain?
